Right now, budgeting is a bit different in the new Dollarbird. We found that for most of our users, manually setting caps wasn't really useful. So we opted for a more flexible approach that doesn't require user input. In the dashboard, you can see next to each category your monthly past average, and also how you're performing compared to that in the actual month. This should help you make better decisions without having to set up budgets manually.
However, for those who prefer the manual approach, we're already in the midst of figuring out a way to let users set caps for categories. This way you could set a target budget for categories, and always see where you are compared to the goal you've set. Stay tuned!

I've been a dollarbird user for almost a year now and has been waiting for this feature forever! The average budget doesn't work because it doesn't mean that average is within the monthly budget.
Setting up a cap manually ensure that we don't over spend than the incoming coming in!
This app here is really one of the best expense and income tracker out there. The User interface is quite excellent and easy to use.
Recommendation: Kindly create a way to view total expense and income; like a Year-to-date sum. This would help users to easily identify categories with the most spend over the period. The monthly total is quite good but a Year-to-date view will definitely be a great addition to the existing summary view.
